Ranch Made Art from the Heart

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

Albert Einstein

With imagination and creativity, I share stories and hope to illuminate what makes rural life special through soft, whimsical watercolor illustration and block print design. I primarily create watercolor illustrations using soil based water color paint  and draw, carve and print original block print designs from here on our ranch in rural America.

Artist Bio

Ever since rural illustrator, Dominique Woodham, can remember, she has wanted to live a life full of adventure, wide open spaces and lovely characters. Adventures and stories have come in spades as she pursued the backroads and every whim of opportunity full throttle over the years, often sharing these experiences through her original artwork.

Woodham’s whimsical style of watercolor illustration and block print design is uniquely her own, developed over the years through the creation of art to be shared with others. Her artwork is inspired by rural character and characters– landscapes, old buildings, wild things, flora, livestock and those that steward these gems and call rural America home.

She creates original artwork with love and has had original works displayed and sold through juried art exhibits such as the Wyoming Sheep and Wool Festival Art Show, as well as the Boxx Gallery’s Images of the Shrub-Steppe. Her educational illustrations can be found on educational materials at the Alaska Plant Materials Center near Palmer, AK, the Missoula County Weed District’s educational “Weed Wrangler” board game, and Montana State University Extension’s, “How Montana Prepares for Wildfire,” coloring book and “Fire-Resistant Landscaping Considerations for Montana’s Wildland Urban Interface (WUI),” Mont Guide.

Original artwork, block prints and limited card runs can be purchased directly from the ranch (here), occasional rural markets and via a select few art exhibits.

Occasionally as time allows, Dominique will lead art workshops in either watercolor painting, block printing or barn quilt design. These workshops can be plein air on the ranch or off the ranch if a suitable location is provided.

Workshops generally last 2-3 hours, all materials are provided, participants will receive detailed step by step guidance or suggestions in the creation of their own unique piece of art. If you’re interested in learning these art skills or booking her for your next party, please call or email to learn more!
