About Us

Quarter Circle 2C Ranch

Quarter Circle 2C Ranch is the livestock stewardship and ranch production arm of Aaron and Domo Woodham’s multigenerational family farm homesteaded in 1896 near Randle, WA. The Woodhams took over management of the family farm in 2013, moving into full time stewardship roles in 2021. They brought with them 13+ years of natural resources land management and ranching experience from central and eastern Montana. The farm is holistically managed with a focus on regenerative agricultural practices such as management intensive rotational grazing, targeted grazing, ranching within natural seasonal cycles, select silvopasture and agroforestry practices, along with low stress livestock handling.

The Quarter Circle 2C Ranch business raises commercial St. Croix and Dorper sheep, registered Kiko goats, registered Red Devon cattle and fresh, pasture laid eggs for sale. All of our livestock are raised on natural forages found in our pastures and woodlots, and spend their lives outside, never in confinement. Our meat is grass fed and grass finished. To produce a pasture laid egg high in Omega-3s, iron and protein, our free range, pasture raised laying hens are supplementally fed a high quality grain ration that is void of: GMOs, corn and soy.

HISTORY OF THE FAMILY FARM: A Legacy of Stewardship

Our farm is in the Big Bottom Valley of southwestern Washington, near the town of Randle. This area is within the traditional territory of use by many indigenous tribes of the Pacific Northwest including, but not limited to the: Stl’pulmsh (Cowlitz), Cayuse, Umatilla, Walla Walla, Qwû’lh-hwai-pûm (Klickitat) and the Confederated tribes of the Siletz.

Originally homesteaded by Michael F. Tierney in 1896, it became a family farm when Tierney invited his niece’s family (Bridget and Thomas Callahan) to farm with him. Eventually, the Callahan family of 7 outgrew the tiny, one room homestead cabin that was shared with Tierney and they moved closer to Randle. Upon Tierney’s passing, the farm was split between the Callahan children. The oldest son, Thomas (Red) became the sole owner of the original family farm and continued to farm and ranch with his younger brother, Hubert (Hub), for the rest of their lives.

Over the years, the farm has grown grains, dairy cattle, hay and raised various breeds of beef cattle. The Callahan brothers, Red and Hub, grew a respectable a cow-calf herd that shared the family livestock brand, the quarter circle 2C. For over 20 years, they would seasonally graze their cattle together on a shared Forest Service grazing allotment in the mountains between Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams until the eruption in 1980. The brothers continued running cattle together until Red passed in 2013, leaving the original family farm to his great nephew (Hub’s grandson), Aaron Woodham.

Woodham rented the farm fields to a custom grazing company from Eastern Washington to grow beef cattle for many years, as well as provided hay to the local area from the fields. Then in 2021, Woodham and his wife decided it was time to move their young family from Montana to the farm full time and weave their own expertise and diverse skills in land management to stewarding the family farm.

Today, the Woodham’s 4 children are the 6th generation to call the Big Bottom Valley home and are very much a part of the daily duties of stewarding a grass farm and growing a diversified livestock business. The Quarter Circle 2C Ranch business is named after the family livestock brand that was registered by Red and Hub Callahan in the 1960s and is still owned and in use by the Woodham family today.
